火の国ぽん酢 – Ponzu

早く使いたかったこのポン酢。
くまもんキャラがついているからと言って、甘く見てはなりませぬ。
美味しい生醤油とデコポンストレート果汁のコラボ。
オリーブオイルと合わせて私定番のサイドディッシュのキャロット・ラペを作るのだー

あ、作り方は至って簡単。
人参の細切りに、最初にオリーブオイル、次にポン酢を各々適量。（最初にオリーブオイルでコーティングすることで水っぽくならないのだね。）

I wanted to use this Ponzu; Japanese sauce made primarily of soy sauce and citrus juice.
It has rich taste of draft soy sauce and pure fruit juice of “Dekopon”.
I love to cook Carottes Rapees; my favorite side dish using Ponzu & olive oil.　First, put some olive oil onto shreds of the carrot and then Ponzu, that's all.  (Oil comes first so it avoids from being watery.)

アートとしての魚たち - Art Fishes

9月の終わりに東京ステーションギャラリーで開催していた
“大野麥風展 「大日本魚類画集」と博物画にみる魚たち”へ。
食として魚介類は肉より好きなのですが、
魚介類という生き物の形も、目に見える美のひとつとして好きなのです。
若くして亡くなられた杉浦千里さん（なんだか呼び捨てできない気持ち）の、生き物への強いまなざしが感じられる目の覚めるようなリアルなアクリル画は、一見の価値ありでした。
その後に大野麥風の「大日本魚類画集」の版画作品の全てが待っていたわけですが、
水族館で眺める魚たちとは違った趣で楽しむことができました。
眺めていると、魚たちのストーリーが思い浮かぶよう。


旧東京駅の煉瓦や内装を一部生かしたギャラリー自体も、見どころのひとつ。
ただ、動線の設計が何だか不思議な気がしました。
1Fがチケット売り場とロッカー。エレベーターで3F展示室⇒ぐるぐるぐるぐる階段を下りて2F展示室。（その階段周りの触れてはいけない煉瓦やら、素敵なシャンデリアも見ものです。）
2F展示室を出てぐるっと半周したら⇒向こう側に見えるミュージアムショップへ、という動線。
それからミュージアムショップ内の出口を通って⇒階段で1Fへ。

ミュージアムショップは小ぶりながらセレクトが面白く、外国へのお土産や外国人観光客に良さそうなお手軽なものがいくつかあって気に入りました。
（ポストカード買おうかと思ったけど、お財布は1Fロッカーだし。ま、今回はいいか、と。） 

The ticket in fish shape

I went to Tokyo Station Gallery to see an exhibition “Art Portfolio of Fishes by Bakufu Ohno”
I love fish than meat and moreover fish fascinates my eyes by its beauty.

Chisato Sugiura’s illustrations painted by acrylic color were amazing - He has passed away at the still young age of 39. We can feel his warm & enthusiastic gaze on those little creatures. 

Then all of the Bakufu Ohno’s art works of woodblock print “Art Portfolio of Fishes” were waiting for us. We enjoyed his fishes that have a different charm from the fishes in aquariums.
While looking, we could imagine fancy stories of their living under the water.



The other thing to note was the gallery itself. It was renovated from the old building of Tokyo Station and they keep some bricks & interior furnishings of former days.
Well, I had a strange feeling about the flow line leading people inside of the gallery.
Ticket booth & lockers are on the ground floor.
We go up in an elevator to the 3rd floor, the entrance to the gallery.
Then we go down the winding stairs to the next gallery space on the 2nd floor.
After you step out from the gallery space, you need to go half around the outside corridor to a museum shop located on the opposite side of the gallery.
The exit is inside of the museum shop to go back to the ground floor after going down the stairs.



I have good impression about the museum shop. It’s small but has several interesting goods with reasonable price which would be nice for guests from abroad.
I tried to buy some post cards, but I left my wallet in the locker on the 1 floor and gave up my idea.

食品サンプル作り - Making Fake Food Samples

9/29は念願の食品サンプル体験。

えびとかぼちゃの天ぷらとレタスに挑戦。

いや～、本当に楽しかった～♪

ただ、エビの天ぷらがね、衣いっぱいついちゃってかなりビッグに。

I wanted to try to make fake food samples for a long time.

So, it was very fun and so exciting experience for me on 9/29 as I expected.   I tried shrimp and pumpkin Tempura and a leaf of lettuce.

But coating of my shrimp was too thick and it became a huge shrimp Tempura at last...

私が作ったえびの天ぷらをディナーしたお店で箸置きにしてみました。でかっ！

店員さんもびっくり。

I used that huge fake shrimp Tempura as a "Hashioki, chopstick rest" at a restaurant on that evening.

Yes, I surprised a restaurant staff.

目下の悩み - My concern

シフォンケーキは何とかふわふわに美味しく焼き上がったけど、焼き目が足りない。
長年使っているオーブンレンジの調子が。。。
オーブンの火力が弱くなってしまって、なかなかこんがり、周りが固くならないのだ。
やっぱり焼き目って美味しさの上で、とっても大切。
で、ココアをふってみました。

My old microwave oven has now something wrong to heat well enough.  It takes a long time to bake well and browning is very important to make a beautiful chiffon cake and make it look delicious.
Browning was not enough so I sprinkled cocoa powder but anyway I could make fluffy & yummy one.

秋近し - The Autumn is coming

 今年の9月19日は中秋の名月。

次の中秋の名月を満月で見られるのは、8年後だそうです。

We had the "Full" Harvest Moon on September 19 this year. 

Next time we can see the "Full" Harvest Moon in 8 years later in Japan.
