Sakura in bloom, actually

Cloudy morning on March 26.
Several sakura trees have already bloomed in Shinjuku Central Park before Japan Meteorological Agency announced the day of opening of Sakura in Tokyo.  They have the sample tree they are observing for the forecast.

The early evening on March 28 in Araki-cho.
Sakura trees in full bloom at dusk were really fantastic.

Sunny day on March 30.
It was so very nice day for "Hanami" around Chinzanso.

Footprints in a park

I found many unfamiliar footprints on the path covered with mud in a park.
Crows or pigeons?   It’s funny! - were they dancing or enjoying a stroll on the ground?

I remembered I saw many chickens’ footprints on the ground covered with concrete at a famous temple of a world heritage in Vietnam. We could even distinguish small footprints after the bigger ones; a chick must have been following a hen. I still cannot forget about those lovely footprints, though it’s difficult to recall the temple’s image now...

Sakura in bloom

The cherry‐blossom(SAKURA) front* was moving northward but not reaching Tokyo yet in the late middle of March this year.
But we let many beautiful SAKURA bloom at March session w/our Origami master!

*Cherry Blossom Front is featured in the 'forecast of cherry blossom blooming dates' issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency beginning in early March.

A day for the perfect “flan a la mode”

After almost 6 months plan, finally I invited my friend to my place and enjoyed “Let’s make fancy flan a la mode by ourselves” party on a Sunday in the middle of March.

All set. We got one-lagged glassware especially for our “flan a la mode” at a variety shop in Daikanyama. Cut fruits are flavored by brandy for rich & adult taste.

Our “flan a la mode”. Both of them were very beautiful with our decoration.

It was really tasty!

Well, I had no time to make flans by myself, so we got the flans of good quality at a convenience store. I love this “極み” flan made from fresh eggs, milk & sugar only; no artificial flavors nor preservatives.

We just decorated around the flans but we got so excited and enjoyed a lot.

BTW, that day’s main dishes were “Thai curry” cooked by me.
The secret of my recipe is to use chickens (2 types -w/bones & w/o bones) boiled in water & Shio-Koji in advance (to make the meat soft), a lot of eggplants & coconut milk to make the taste rich & mild.

Fish Festival

Fish lovers will not be able to resist that kind of “izakaya*” - I really enjoyed the food!
*An izakaya (居酒屋) is a type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. They are popular, casual places for after-work drinking.

It costs only 500Yen & should surprise a cat
(I mean “fish lover”) like me!

An izakaya staff put crabmeat as much as he could on Dashi-maki Tamago (rolled omelet made with soup stock) until we said “Stop!”

<余談 as an aside>
Speaking of fish(sakana) lover, “sakanaction” is a must see band in Japanese music scene now.

For me, fish somehow means archaic & neo-futuristic when I do not look it as food.
I am wondering why I have a dream of ancient or evolved fish repeatedly.

Running on a sunny day

The weather was good on Feb 2nd after several weekends without sunshine.
Actually, it's the first time for me to run around the imperial palace during in the day time and I enjoyed the sight passing by & perspective, different from the nighttime.
I got exhausted as I ran after long interval of time...
After the running, you can imagine how ramenxiaolongbao were tasty for us.

Banana cake

I baked a banana cake without using eggs, milk & butter & sugar for my father and it smelled sweet of banana's and made me feel happy.

I could not thank them directly but baked the cake while thinking about some people who kindly helped my father fallen down at a subway station and took him to the hospital. - A lady run to the hospital for help in advance and a gentleman carried my father on his back to the hospital.  Some other people might have also helped him.

Well, the cake must have tasted really good when my father ate.  Thanks to them, he was not so in serious condition.
Hope he recover and be in good shape & very active as before soon.

Hina dolls" - Origami Session

In February Origami session with our Origami Master, we made the Japanese traditional dolls for Hina-Matsuri on March 3rd.
They look so lovely and we can change their dresses!

I made Kimono of an asymmetry pattern for the prince and a poppy one for the princess.

Aya-cchi made a very beautiful pair of "Hina-ningyo"
