>>東大寺 – Todai-ji ☆☆☆☆☆
As I wrote before, statue of the
Great Buddha in Todai-ji was built by Emperor Shomu, trying to save Japan by
power of Buddha from fateful crises.
It’s a pity and first time
for me to know the image of the Great Buddha and the hall have ever burnt down
twice in 1180 & 1567 and rebuilt by persons in the position of power afterwards
in our history.
But if I did not know the
history, I felt “something” in deep emotion from like supernatural being over
the history.
We got goose skin and teary eyed
without noticing it.
We did not know why but we
felt like we could see that face forever.
I personally thought it was
the time to receive something precious instead of praying something to Buddha.
To me, it was not words but
something like “It’s OK as long as just the way you are” which is filled with great
breadth of warm mind.
I suppose what you would perceive
is all up to you & your condition.
私のブログで書いたように聖武天皇が詔を発令して造立(ぞうりゅう)された奈良の大仏さま。
残念ながら、大仏さまと大仏殿はその後、1180年と1567年に2回焼失。
その都度、時の権力者の支援で再興されてきた歴史を今回初めて知りました。
そして、その歴史を知らなくても、自然と伝わって来た「何か」
－友人も私も、鳥肌がたって、涙が自然に溢れそうに。
何だろう、ずっと大仏さまの姿を見つめ続けていられる。
「自分が何かを祈る」というのではなく、
自分が何かを受け取ることができた時間だったと思います。
私には、「それでいいのだよ」という、温かい寛容に満ちた
言葉に代わる何かが降りてきた気がしてるのです。
その受け止め方は人によって千差万別あるのだろうと思う。
高校の修学旅行で来たとしても、きっと、その時にはわからなかっただろうな。
何だか、今まで「奈良の大仏」って気軽に呼んできてごめんなさい、と反省。
でも、そういうことも広い空の下、全部包括して許してくれそうな大仏さまでした。

trip, I would never notice anything.

enfold everything under the wide sky.

It’s
amazing that you can take a picture of “Daibutsu” in Todaiji.
