贅沢な美術館の楽しみ方 - Special way of enjoying the art museum

12/20、アートテラー・とに～さんによるイベントに参加。（祝！Wiki掲載）

閉館後の山種美術館を貸し切りで、
学芸員さん＆とに～さんによるトークとゲームを楽しもう！というもの。

一般のお客さんがいなくなった後、
日本画界の重鎮、東山魁夷さんの作品をじっくり鑑賞という贅沢さ。
解説の通り、日本画というものは、よくよく観察してみると、
絵肌は、決してのっぺりしたものではなく、岩絵の具の粒子の光があったり、
重ね塗りで盛り上がっている個所が絵の印象を高めたりしていて、
初めての発見もたくさんありました。
一般客がいない、本来は閉館している時間帯の美術館内の雰囲気というものも
特別感満載で、わくわくする体験でした。
とに～さんのトークの出番があまりなくって、それは残念だったかも。

I joined an event organized by Tony, the art teller on Dec 20.
We were invited to Yamatane Museum of Art after the usual opening hours and enjoyed a talk session between Tony-san & a curator of the museum and then a bingo game.
It's a really special occasion to appreciate Japanese paintings such as by Kaii HIGASHIYAMA, one of the most famous and great Japanese painters, closely.
We learnt Japanese paintings are not just flat but can see many particles of light by natural mineral pigments and some parts and motifs are daubed thickly to give deep effect, producing depths on the painting.

寒い雨降りの夜は、暖かいラーメンへつい寄り道！
On a cold rainy night, we could not help going to a ramen shop!

ベトナム熱 - in a fever of Vietnam

I got acquainted with a girl whose hobbies and interests are close to mine.
She is bound up in pottery, other handcrafts & cooking.
(I did pottery a long time ago.)
We decided to meet again @ our favorite Kichijoji where we explored the town, stopping at such as an art gallery, fancy antique shops, interior & variety shops.
We enjoyed Vietnamese dishes for lunch and she told me she was travelling Vietnam from Dec 24.
To my surprise, I could tell her about Vietnam so many than I had thought from my deep travel experiences for 2 times.
When we were talking enthusiastically at the restaurant, I felt as if we were in Vietnam and wished I could be.
Sometime in the future, I want to visit again with my beloved one.

Hope she is enjoying a lot there and has a safe trip right now!

最近知り合った女のコのテイストが私に近くて
盛り上がったまま、お互いのお気に入りの街、吉祥寺で再会。
彼女は只今、陶芸に夢中。
アートギャラリーやらおしゃれな骨董品店やらインテリア、

雑貨店などを巡っては大いに盛り上がる我々。
ランチは、ベトナム料理屋さん。
そこで12/24からベトナムに旅立つことを聞いて
２回の旅行経験者の私としては、聞かれるがままに、

途中から聞かれる以上のことを
気がつけば熱く語っていたという。
いや、こんなにベトナム通だとは自分でも思ってなかった。
またベトナム行きたいなー。今度は好きなヒトと一緒に。

彼女が只今ベトナム満喫中でありますように！

代官山タイム - DAIKANYAMA Time

12月中旬、久しぶりに会う友人と代官山TENOHAにてランチ＆お散歩

150年以上の歴史をもつローマの老舗ボンドルフィ社。

その日本第1号のカフェがTENOHA内にあり、

こちらのコーヒーがデザートの際にチョイスできます！

大人の女性同士の話し、いろいろ深いのだ。

自立した自分の生き方をまっとうしている女性の友人との時間は貴重です。

場所が謎で、ずっと行きたかった猿楽珈琲も満喫できたし(また行きたい！）、
西郷山公園で見た西洋の宗教画のような美しい夕焼け雲も眺めて
ああ、いい一日だったなー

途中でスマホで何やら夢中になってる謎の集団に出会って、
友人が聞いてくれたら
(我々は公園にUFOでもやってくる情報あり？とか思っていた)
バーチャルとリアルが組み合わさった陣地取りゲームらしい。
青組みと緑組さん達が代官山にあふれてました。。。コスプレチームも。
どうやらIngressっていうやつらしい。
世の中、知らないうちにどんどん変わっていくな。。。

I met my friend @TENOHA in Daikanyama and enjoyed lunch and coffee.
She is an amazing, independent woman and the time shared with her is really valuable for me.
Thanks to her, I could also go to Sarugaku Coffee, a small cafe that I wanted to visit for a long time - it's difficult to find it.  Rich aroma & tasty coffee in the nostalgic & cozy ambiance made us just happy.
After that, we saw the beautiful sky with bright colors of the sunset like a western religious painting @ Saigoyama Park.
During a walk, we met many strange guys in many groups walking almost without conversations but watching & operating their smart phones eagerly.  My friend asked one of them what's going on and it turned out they were a playing virtual & real mass-field game; Blue team vs Green team.
When I checked on the internet a few days later, it called "Ingress".  
Something new in this world is advancing before we know.  

初クロシェ - My First Crochet

こ、こんなに不器用だったけ！？と唖然とするほど
初めは全然編めなかったクロシェ。
(久しぶりの編み物で、昔、右手で編んでたのか、
左手で編んでたのかも思い出せなかった。。。
ちなみに普段は左利きだけど、
携帯などは右手じゃないと文字打てなかったりする。)
なんとか、ぶっちゃいくだけど、ようやく雪の結晶が編みあがり！
オーガーナイザーのロシア人美女が本当に優しくて
励ましながら丁寧に教えてくれて、何とか出来上がったのでした。
やっぱり、人は励まされないと頑張れないもの。

ロシアの冬の話も楽しかった！

ちなみに、フランス語から来ているので“クロシェット”ではなくて、
“クロシェ”という呼び方が正しいそうです。
クロシェの方が編み物より簡単で、お手軽らしいけど
うーむ、今のところ難しい。
あと、おおざっぱな性格には向かないかも。
すぐ編み目の数忘れちゃうから。。。

真ん中のピカソ風？なのがわたし作。

My fist Crochet is on the ivory white card. Like a Picasso's drawing.

I joined a workshop to learn the basics of crocheting and make a snowflake. I was total beginner but very incompetent than I had thought...I am a lefty but could not know what to do with my left or right hand, first of all.

I even did not remember which hand mainly I used when knitting a long time ago.

Thanks to a Russian beauty, the organizer, I could make a kind of "artistic" snow flake at last as she cheered me up and taught me so gently all through the workshop.

YES! We always need encouragement from somebody.

We also enjoyed the conversions and the stories of winter in Russia were so surprising for us. 

メリークリスマス - Merry Chirstmas

仕事終わった後に会議室でラッピングのボランティアに参加。
今年一番、一生懸命だったかも。
たくさんのクリスマスプレゼントは、入院している子供たちの元へ。
誰かがどこかで想ってくれているっていうことも伝わるように。

I joined a volunteer activity to wrap up Xmas gifts after work @ a conference room.
Those gifts were to be delivered to kids in the hospitals during Xmas time.
I was so much absorbed in wrapping and happy to find a pile of lovely wrapped gifts at last. 
Hope a gift from an unknown person could warmed up a kid's heart a bit.

おさらい新聞エコバック – Brushup of making a eco newspaper bag

意外とね、忘れてしまうものですわね、やっぱり人間って。
あーでも、こーでもないと言いながら、友人の部屋の床中を散らかして

なんとか出来上がり！
サイズは我々で勝手に（テキトーに）変更。
早速、野菜に入れて玄関先に置いてます。でも、かっこいー（？）
元々根菜類は冷蔵庫保存より涼しいところに新聞紙に包んで置いておくのが一番良いのです。

左が私作、右が友人作。

Our memories are slipped away without our noticing, as you know.
We tried to make the bag made of newspaper again by ourselves.
We were straggling for a while, scattering everything all over the floor in my friend’s room and could make nice ones at last.
I am using my bag to keep vegetables.
It’s good to keep root crops wrapped by newspapers in a cool place rather than in the refrigerator so that bag suits best.

ICC（2015年3月8日まで無料で入場できるオープンスペース開催中です）で、
お気に入りの作品：ジャグラー（年に1回は見たくなります。見終わった後、くらくらしちゃう）など鑑賞後、
友人宅でおさらい会＆友人特製の芋煮食べて、いろいろ盛りだくさんの一日でした。

Well, we had a lot of fun enjoying an exhibition during a period* for free entrance fee @ ICC (*until March 8th, 2015. “Juggler” is worth seeing and I’d love to see it at least once a year. You must feel dizzy by the amazing work after seeing it.) then making the bags and eating a dish cooked by my friend. 

１日２回も – Twice a day

一日に2回も避難するって。。。

日中は会社の避難訓練で41Fから非常階段を降り

（まあ、1年に2回あるから、もう慣れたけど）、
家でのんびりお風呂に浸かっていたら火災警報が。

慌てて服を着て（なかなか着れないんだな、これが）、
貴重品持って、避難袋背負って、

階段使って避難する羽目に。

消防車もやってきて緊迫の時間。

結局、誰かの調理中の煙が原因だった。

もーすっかり湯冷めですわ。。。

What kind of day did I evacuate twice a day?
First, I evacuated from the 41st floor for semi-annual fire drill, walking down an emergency staircase during a working time.
Secondly, I jumped out from a bath when the fire alarm was set off in that evening and evacuated from my apartment. The fire engine arrived and firemen found there was no fire in our apartment at last – someone cooked without turning a ventilating fan and it caused a lot of smoke...I've got a totally chilly feeling after a bath.

I found Hello Kitty fire extinguishers sold in our office building on that day for fire drill.

人工知能の開発は人類の終わりを意味するかもしれない、と英理論物理学者のスティーブン・ホーキング（Stephen Hawking）博士が警告したショッキングなBBCのインタビュー。

「ひとたび人類が人工知能を開発してしまえば、それは自ら発展し、加速度的に自らを再設計していくだろう」、「ゆっくりとした生物学的な進化により制限されている人類は、（人工知能と）競争することはできず、（人工知能に）取って代わられるだろう」
我々はAIに対して楽観的であるべきか、否か？

Prof. Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could end mankind.

He says the primitive forms of artificial intelligence developed so far have already proved very useful, but fears the consequences of creating something that can match or surpass humans.
"It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever increasing rate," he said.
"Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be superseded."

Well, I’m wondering whether we can be optimistic or should be less pessimistic for the future with AI?

秋の光景 - Autumn Scenery

11月末に大山へ紅葉狩り。きれいでしたー！！ ライトアップの紅葉に感動した後は温泉でまったり、すっきり。憂き世のうさも晴れるってもんですな。
We made an excursion to Oyama for viewing leaves putting on their autumn colors in mountains of Tokyo's suburbs near the end of November and fully enjoyed beautiful scarlet maple leaves & other trees colored in yellow & orange. Some places were lit up and possible to view the maple leaves at night.
After that, we got into a hot spring and every minor unpleasant things in daily life melt away.

Amazing scenery in the morning fresh air raise me up on my way to the office.
Also in the central Tokyo, we could view the beautiful Autumn colors in many parks at the beginning of December.
12月初めの週は、東京中心部の公園では紅葉が見ごろでした。朝からこの風景に出合うとその一日頑張れそう。

新聞でおしゃれバッグ - Bags made of newspapers

新聞から作るバッグのワークショップに参加。
糊もあまり使わずにこの強度で、完成度。大満足です。

近々友人宅で、おさらいで作ってみる予定。

I & my friend joined a workshop to make a bag using newspapers and we were satisfied with our job.  

We are trying to make another one at my friend's place soon.

十三夜 - the Moon on the thirteenth night

十三夜の次の日の写真。
撮っていたのを忘れていました。
今年の11月5日は171年ぶりの珍しい「後（のち）の十三夜」だったそうです。

この前のスーパームーンより珍しかったのだとは知らず。

I forgot I had took this picture, the next night of November 5th when we could see the 2nd(later) "moon on the 13th night of the ninth lunar month".  It was the first time in 171 years that we could view that rare full moon twice a year.

シンタクロース！？ - Sinterklaas?!

デスクの目の前は、短期でオランダオフィスから来日中の

オランダ人男性。

たまに世間話をするのですが、
オランダでは、サンタが街にやってくる前の11月、

船に乗って“シンタクロース”がやってくるそう。
上陸したら、白馬に跨り、黒いお顏のお供を連れているそうです。

赤い帽子と洋服に白いひげ。
そう、ぱっと見はサンタクロース。でもよく見ると、

もっと高貴ないでたちで、偉そうなカンジのビジュアル。
サンタのパクり？かと思ったら、実はもっと歴史が深く、
後に、“シンタ”がアメリカで”サンタ“になったようです。

知らなかった。。。

子供たちが歌を唄って、ご褒美にお菓子をあげるそうです。
（あれ？これはハロウィーンみたいな。でも、

オランダではハロウィーンはないとのこと。）
シンタ⇒サンタと、オランダの親たちにとっては、

出費が多い時期が続くそうです。
世の中には、まだまだ知らないことがいっぱいあるのだなぁ。

追伸：

12/5がSt.ニコラウスのお誕生日で、

その日にシンタクロースがおうちにやってきて、

子供たちに「君は良い子だったね」とか「こうしなさい」などと言ってプレゼントをくれるそうです。

（これは、リアルに両親がお金を払ってシンタクロースを雇ってるそうで、6歳位までシンタクロースが実在するって子供達は信じいるらしいです。）

A gentleman from the Netherlands is sitting in front of my desk right now.
He is assigned to Tokyo team during a short term period.
He told me about ”Sinterklaas” - I heard “Santa Clause” instead of that for the first time.
Well, Sinterklaas is wearing a red clothes with a white beard but he looks more noble when I found him on the websites.
It seems there is a long history about him and they say he had appeared first in history and then transformed to Santa Clause in US, coming to us in Xmas season now.
In November, it's the season when Sinterklaas is coming from Spain on the boat and then riding on a white horse in towns (NO reindeers & sleigh), the colleague said Dutch children sing to get sweets from the adults. (like Halloween!)
There are still many things we’ll never know while we are living. It’s not a small but big world!

My colleague said Dec 5th is St. Nicolaus's Birthday and a Sinterklaas actually comes to houses on that day and gives nice gifts to children with some encouraging or scolding words what the children have done.  The parents will pay money to the pretend Sinterklaas in advance that's why he knows everything about the children!!

秋バラ都電散歩 – Streetcars & Autumn roses

いつもお世話になっている男性同僚宅へお呼ばれしたので、

都電に乗ってお出掛け。
途中、惜しまれつつも退社した元同僚とも落ち合って、

秋バラを愛でながらランチタイム＆路線を散策。

お宅へお邪魔したら、焼き立て天然酵母チーズパンとスコーン＆焼き芋の良い香り！！
美味しい台湾茶と蓮茶で、大満足でした♡
しっかし、肌の弱い奥様のため、お風呂用に

重曹「5Kg入り」の袋をストックもある程、

買ってくれてる旦那様なんて他にいる？素晴らし過ぎ。
バスソルト用に安い天然塩を食材買い物途中に買っているけど、1kg追加は重いんだよー
素敵なご夫婦で、ほんと、いいな～。

深い話とイノセントな話のバランスの良さで楽しいひとときでした。
お土産にいただいたパン&スコーンで2日間幸せな朝食でした♪

I was invited to the house of one of my colleagues to enjoy tea time so went out riding on a little streetcar; Toei Arakawa line which are operating the last streetcars in Tokyo now.
Actually, I like to ride on the streetcars because everything is quite different from ordinary trains. They are tiny & have lovely body designs, running slowly through towns & passing through so tiny stations, sometimes on the traffic roads along with many automobiles.
On my way, I met another ex. Colleague. She had left our company this summer and we enjoyed lunch @ a restaurant and strolled alongside of the streetcars’ railroads.
Autumn roses were in full bloom beside us.

When we arrived our host’s house, good smells of freshly baked bread, scone and roast sweet potatoes welcomed us.
Both of us fully enjoyed many cups of tasty teas from Taiwan & Vietnam.

Our host is male and he is very proactive in the office and I rely on him a lot. He is a wonderful husband, too.
He baked natural yeast bread every week and buys sacks of baking soda (5kg/sack), not for cooking purpose but used for bath because his wife has sensitive skin.
I’m so impressed to know he & his wife are really nice couple!

We talked a lot about deep but sometimes innocent things just around us and it was really good time.
Thanks to him, I could enjoy wonderful breakfasts with his bread and scones for the next 2 days!!

ぬか漬け始める - Handmade pickles

思い立ってぬか漬けを始めました。
何年ぶりだろう。
捨て漬けの1週間後には、風味あるぬか床になりました。

風味漬けに入れたのは、昆布、唐辛子、からし粉、粒山椒、粉末干し椎茸と、塩麹少々。

I started "Nuka-zuke　‐pickles made in brine and fermented rice bran" by myself after all those long years.  My Nuka is getting better in 1 week, after preparation duration.

エリンギが意外にかなり、イケます！

ぬか床がいいカンジになってきました。

Now Nuka is well prepared and smells good.

秋のお散歩日和 - A perfect autumn day to go somewhere

10/26 気の合う友人とふらっとお出掛け。
豪徳寺→梅ヶ丘→下北沢
I took a stroll around 3 towns with a kindred-spirit friend on Oct 26.
Gotokuji→Umegaoka→Shimokitazawa

Many cats with a beckoning paw. They said the origin of welcoming cat was from Gotokuji.

Some trees were putting on their autumn colors.

読書の秋で - Reading in the long autumn nights

読書の秋。
ジェフリー・ディヴァーにハマッてます。
特技：「犯人当て」を自負していた私でも
毎回、想像以上のどんでん返しに、
眠くてもページをめくるのをやめられない。

で、さらに疲れ目と肩こりがひどくなってしまい、
鍼とお灸へ。
これが、鍼姿。
まさか、こんなになっていたなんて！！
いつもぐっすり寝てしまってます。。。

I am engrossed in books written by Jeffery Deaver and
sometimes I can't stop myself from staying up late at night.
I am good at guessing who is a true criminal in a story but his stories are beyond my imagination.

Well, long reading causes strong eyestrain & stiff shoulders.
So I got the acupuncture treatment.
I've never dreamed my face & head are like that as I am always falling asleep during the treatments.

食べ放題の秋 ‐Autumn appetite

いくら食欲の秋だからといって、

1週間に2回も食べ放題は、いけないかしら、やっぱり。。。
I went to 2 restaurants offering as much as one can eat for a standard charge within 1 week… We call that autumn appetite.

  水炊きのスープが美味しくて何杯もおかわり。 

The soup has a deep taste and we could not stop another helping for many times.

シメの雑炊と地鶏プリンも美味です。 

We fully enjoyed to the last, a porridge of rice with an egg yolk & pudding made from pedigree chicken’s egg.

We all got hyper in front of a lot of wide variety of Sushi.
So GOOOOOOD!!
Well, I ate more than 20 by myself and was too full to walk on the way to my home.

人生初の合羽橋 - My first KAPPABASHI

行ってきましたかっぱ橋道具祭り。
ずっと行きたかった私にとっての初の合羽橋。
が、す、すごい人出。。。
これは、空いている平日にお買いものした方が良さそうですな。
セイロ、パエリア鍋など、友人とお互い欲しいものの下見となりました。
その後は、浅草散策もした大満足の一日でした。

Landmark in Kappabashi

I went to Kappabashi during a festival when many cooking tools were on sale along the street. I was so excited because I had wanted to visit there for long time. But it was so crowed and I and my friend almost gave up to buy something we wanted but we will try again someday in the near future.
After that, we were walking in Asakusa and it was a lovely Saturday we both enjoyed.

ふわふわの - Lovely fluffy

とある「羊を知ろう！」ワークショップで、
本物の羊毛を使ってヒツジくん作成。
大好きなクレイアニメのひつじのショーンの仲間をイメージ。
ふわふわもこもこでLovelyにできました。来年の干支ですね。

I made a small "Sheep" doll using real wool at a workshop.
I tried to create one of friends in "Shaun the Sheep", my favorite stop-motion animation and could make a lovely fluffy one.  Next year is the Year of the Sheep in Chinese astrology.

初めてのお麩 - ”Fu” I've never tried before

大好きなお麩をお土産でいただきました。
マツタケの形のものと、見たこともない大きさの丸もちみたいな
めずらしいお麩。
My colleague gave me 2 kinds of rare "Fu- breadlike food made of wheat gluten used for Japanese cooking".  I am "Fu" lover and couldn't wait for cooking them. 

水に浸すと大きくなる、なる。

マツタケの香りがしました、このお麩。

柚子も合わせて秋の煮物に仕上がりました。

These fu smelled like a matsutake mushroom.

I could cook a seasonal dish.

笑っちゃうくらい、お鍋の中で大きくなってしまった。。。

山口県特産の歴史ある安平麩なるものです。

They were growing so big in a pot.

They are called "Anpei-fu" which have a long history in Yamaguchi prefecture.

美味しかったです！ごちそうさまでした♡

Thanks a lot!  Both of them were really nice. 

10月の折り紙会 - Origami Session in Oct 2014

今年のハロウィーンかぼちゃは、立体です。

We folded Halloween's pumpkins with hats.

わたし作　なかなかLovelyでしょ。

あのマトリョーシカ作の巨匠によるかぼちゃ。

見る者全てに笑いを届けてます。そう、それは絶対素敵なことだよ！

衝撃のコンテンポラリーアート
アバンギャルド過ぎます。

御本人は至って真面目にというか、、、仕事で何かありました？

愛はホルモンのなせる結果？ - Hormone of love?

文部科学省 脳科学研究戦略推進プログラム事務局なるところが主催のサイエンスカフェ「愛情と絆の脳科学」に顔出ししてみた。
この分野の第一人者の西森教授による脳内ホルモンの“オキシトシン”のお話。
マウスによる基礎研究から、オキシトシンは愛情や絆に深く関与しているところから発展して、今や社会性行動や個体相互間の行動の障害（自閉症や統合失調症、うつ病）の治療法の開発の応用に期待されているそう。

うーむ、まず、オキシトシンありきで愛なのだろうか。。。？
どうして好きになっちゃうんだろうの答えがこれだとは思えないけど。
と、会場の3331 Arts Chiyodaで日向ぼっこしながら考えたりしたとある週末でした。
（1年ぶり位に訪れたけど、なんだか、古い校舎って落ち着く。）
そこから徒歩圏内の2k540もセットで訪れるのがおススメ。
日本のクラフトマンシップに出会えます。

I joined a science cafe organized by MEXT held at 3331 Arts Chiyoda. The theme was "Brain Science of Love and Bonding" featuring "Oxytocin" presented by Prof. Nishiori, the leading investigator in this field. Through his studies on mice using "Oxytocin"; hormone in our brain to control love and pair-bonding, he is tying to develop a new therapy for human mental/behavior disorders such as autism, schizophrenia & melancholy.
I was wondering whether love or Oxytocin comes first inside of our brain while I was sitting in the sun on the stairs in front of 3331 Arts Chiyoda, a site for conducting art-related activities, using the original junior high school building.　Anyway, I suppose only Oxytocin have never made me fall in love with somebody...
