We have so many extremely
hot days in all over Japan this summer.
We have a lot of guerrilla
rainstorms also in Tokyo.
On the way to and from work,
I walk through a big park near the metropolitan government buildings and the
park is filled with big buzzing of many cicadas in the air.
Usually we cannot see
cicadas but only hear their buzzing. This
year you can easily find many cicadas & their cast-off skins everywhere in
the park.
We Japanese like chirring of cicadas in chorus from the ancient times but this is almost extraordinary
crazy noise in this park & make me feel the air is hotter…Well, we cannot blame them as they just enjoy their
short life after long years growing underground.
Famous HAIKU:
Deep
silence, the shrill of cicadas, seeps into rocks.
Composed by MATSUO Basho
at Ryushakuji temple, Yamagata Prefecture on July 13 1689.
